I recently published an article on the best-rated Huion tablets and found a bunch of users citing Photoshop compatibility issues. Whether it’s the Huion tablet not recognizing pen or Photoshop not recognizing pressure sensitivity, I’ve solutions to every problem you might be facing.
Being one of the more feature-packed drawing and designing tools, Adobe Photoshop shouldn’t be acting up on any tablet, much less on something creator-focused like Huion. Upon receiving queries, I used a Huion tablet myself, Kamvas 24 Plus, to be exact.
To get you started, compatibility issues with Huion Tablets can show up due to a wide range of issues. It can be as trivial as a minor driver issue or something wrong with the screen or stylus. I have covered each aspect in detail and would be more than happy to address each issue, causes leading to it, and practical solutions.
So let’s dig in and resolve the problems for good.

Issue 1: Huion Tablet Not Working with Photoshop CS5 or CS6
Nature of the Issue: Photoshop Installed, Opens but doesn’t Respond to Touch or any movement.
Possible Cause: Driver Issue
Step 1: Ensure that the Huion tablet is perfectly connected to the PC. No loose connections.
Step 2: Check the driver version, head over to Huion’s official Driver & Manual portal, and install the latest one if needed. It would help fix the driver issue.
Step 3: Restart the PC once the drivers are installed. Photoshop should work once it reboots.
Note: Check for the driver installing specs before downloading and installing the same
Step 4: Head over to the Photoshop interface and check whether the pen strokes work or not. If it was a driver issue, it should be resolved by now.
Issue 2: Huion Tablet Not Working in Windows 10
Nature of the Issue: Nothing from the interface to the pen works on Windows 10 PCs. Photoshop works fine when the Huion Tablet is connected to any other compatible OS.
Possible Cause: Huion software is unable to detect Photoshop as standalone software.
Step 1: Open the Huion Tablet app on your device.
Step 2: Tap on ‘Digital Pen’ from the tab options on the left. It will open the Stylus Pen’s settings interface. Here, Tick the ‘Windows Ink’ and click on Apply and OK.
Brief Explanation: The Huion software on your Windows setup fails to separate Photoshop from the Windows Ink Suite. While this cannot be fixed, clicking on the Windows Ink Suite lets the software identify Photoshop and all the processes relevant to it.
Note: This enhancement even lets you work with Presto.
Issue 3: Huion Pen Pressure Not Working in Photoshop
Nature of Issue: Huion pen pressure not working when using Photoshop.
Possible Cause: Faulty driver installation, incorrect installation, faulty USB ports, and cables.
Step 1: Restart the host computer before you do anything else.
Step 2: Disable the sleep mode associated with the PC as that might interfere with the driver’s performance.
Process for Windows Users:
- Open Windows Settings. Look for ‘Power & Sleep’ from the menu. It will open an interface as shown below:
- Select ‘Never’ in the dropdown menus under the Sleep section.
Process for Mac Users:
- Open ‘System Preferences’ and look for ‘Energy Saver’. Double click on it, and it will open up an interface like this:
- Here, slide the cursor towared right hand side to make the screen never goes into the sleep mode.
Step 3: Try and use the Pen after this fix. If the Huion pen not working problem persists, read on.
Step 4: You will find the ‘tablet icon’ on the system tray of your PC or tablet. Click on it and check the option that says Support TabletPC. This would activate the pen and the utilities right away.
Note: You might want to restart the device for the settings to take effect.
Step 5: If nothing above works, try and look for the most recent Huion tablet driver and install the same.
Note: Most recent Huion tablets come with a driver CD. You can refer to it in case you are looking to reinstall them. If the CD driver isn’t updated, which might happen, head over to the official website and get the updated one.
Step 6: If none of the above strategies work, you might have to work directly on the stylus pen. Open This PC or Files on your Windows machine.
Step 7: Navigate to the User > App Data > Roaming > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CC Settings folder. Here, look for the ‘PS UserConfig.txt’ file. If it doesn’t exist, create one and type in ‘UseSystemStylus 0’ and save the document.
Step 8: Once done, head back to the driver interface that is supposed to be on your system tray. Once there, open the ‘Stylus Pen’ tab and check the Windows Ink, hit apply, and save the changes.
Step 9: Restart the device and see if the Huion pen pressure is working just fine.
Step 10: If the pressure sensitivity in the Photoshop issue persists, unplug the tablet from the PC, check the USB ports on both sides, and even test the cables on some other devices to see if they are holding up fine.
Note: At any point while following these steps accurately, your issue will cease to exist.
