Not to mention the fact that it offers a lot more than the entry-level Tab A7, especially when it comes to memory allocation and storage space.

The Exynos 9611 leads the processing hearth, ensuring coverage across a wide range of applications and games. Surprisingly, this tablet is one of my foremost choices for playing Roblox games, which are expected to make good use of the octa-core architecture and the Mali-G72 MP3.

Helming the tablet is the Octa-Core, Snapdragon 855 chipset, boasting maximum clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz. The single-core performance is top-notch, ensuring excellent gaming and processing speeds. Plus, the visuals and graphics are taken care of by the top-shelf, Adreno 640 GPU.

RAM & Storage

Samsung stacks in 6GB of RAM and leaves the door ajar for multiple tasks, all at once. The storage space at 128GB is more than adequate but you can always upgrade the same to up to 1TB, via the micro-SD slot.

The Galaxy Tab S6 offers the interactive and accommodative Android 9.0, out of the box. However, you can always upgrade the existing OS to Android 11, whenever available. Not to mention the One UI 3.1 that brings a bit of Bloatware into the mix, but is certainly worth the stretch.

As compared to the 2016-variant of the Tab A7, the 2020-variant offers a bigger screen, an improved processor with 11nm architecture as opposed to 28mm, and a bigger chunk of RAM.

The Snapdragon 662 seems like a good fit considering the octa-core architecture and maximum clock speed of up to 2GHz. What drives excellent gaming performance is the Adreno 610 graphics coprocessor. When it comes to overall performances, this is a good enough tablet for managing eBooks and more.

Samsung makes room for 3GB RAM, which is a great ally to the existing SoC. If you are in the market for an affordable yet impactful tablet for your kid or senior family member, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 can be a pretty reliable option. However, as it offers an 8-inch screen, you are better off using the tablet as a handheld device, instead of connecting it to a keyboard.

To make the review more holistic, I replaced my Tab A 8.0 (2017-variant) with the 2019 model and continued using the same for four weeks to be exact. Based on the inferences, I would like to state that the 2019-variant is a better bet and worthy of being considered as an upgrade, courtesy of the faster quad-core chipset and bigger storage space.

SoC & Performance

The Tab A 8.0 makes peace with the Snapdragon 429 chipset, which is capable of reaching maximum speeds of up to 2GHz. Plus, there is the Adreno 504 GPU in play that can handle visual clarity and color accuracy without performance dips. Overall, the processing setup is good enough for most games and binge-streaming escapades.
